What’s the best way to add extra veggies to shepherd's pie without making it too watery?

I’ve been wanting to add more vegetables to my shepherd's pie, but I’m worried about them releasing water and making the whole dish soggy. Do you cook them first, or are there specific veggies that work better? Any tips to keep it hearty without the extra moisture?

Pre-cooking the veggies is a great way to prevent sogginess! Root vegetables like carrots and parsnips work well, and sautéing or roasting them before adding can help reduce excess moisture. You can also try using less watery veggies like peas or corn.
