What's the deal with underwater volcanoes and their role in global warming?

Okay, hear me out. I just read something about underwater volcanic activity potentially impacting ocean temperatures and, by extension, climate change. But I thought volcanoes were just about dramatic eruptions and not a slow-burn (pun intended) contributor to warming trends. Does anyone know more about this? Are scientists even focusing on this area, or is it more of a fringe topic?

Whoa, that’s wild! I always thought volcanoes were just about dramatic eruptions too, but turns out their underwater activity can definitely affect ocean temperatures. It’s a bit of a slower process, but scientists are definitely looking into it! It’s not the main focus compared to other factors, but it’s definitely an area of interest in understanding climate change. So cool (and a little scary) to think about!
