What’s the secret to getting a perfect balance between fish and rice in nigiri?

I love making nigiri at home, but I always struggle with getting the right ratio between the fish and the rice. Do you focus more on fish size, rice portion, or something else entirely to achieve that ideal bite? Any pro tips to perfect the technique?

When making nigiri, balance is key! Typically, the fish should be slightly larger than the rice ball, covering it completely without overwhelming the bite. Focus on shaping the rice—use just enough for one bite (about 10-15g), and press it gently to keep it light and fluffy. The fish should be thin but wide enough to drape over the rice nicely. Practice with different cuts and adjust the rice portion for that perfect harmony!
