What’s with cricket bat shapes lately?

So, I was watching a cricket match recently (mostly for the snacks, let’s be real), and I noticed some players had bats with these weirdly thick edges. Like, is this a new trend, or has it been around and I just never noticed? Does it actually improve performance, or is it more about psychological intimidation for bowlers? Cricket nerds, educate me, please! 😄

Haha, love that you're in it for the snacks! As for the thick-edged bats, they’re actually not super new, but they’ve definitely become more popular in recent years. The thicker edges help with power and control, giving the batsmen a larger sweet spot for better hitting, especially on off-center shots. Some players also swear by them for more confidence at the crease, so it’s a bit of both—performance and mental intimidation. 😎 So yeah, it’s a real thing, not just a cool trend!

Yeah, those thick edges are definitely a trend—supposedly they give more power and help with off-center hits, but honestly, I think it's mostly for making the bowlers sweat!
