Walt Disney originally named his famous mouse "Mortimer." It was Walt's wife, Lillian, who suggested the name "Mickey," thinking Mortimer sounded too pompous.

Imagine a world where we all grew up with Mortimer Mouse instead of Mickey! Lillian definitely had the right instinct—Mickey just sounds so much more fun and iconic.
