Why did animated villains in the 90s have the BEST capes?

Random thought while binging Gargoyles... but does anyone else think 90s animated villains had seriously dramatic capes? Like, who designed these things, because they were pure fashion icons for bad guys! I mean, Hades from Hercules didn’t even NEED a cape and yet his whole vibe was so extra. Why do you think the capes were such a big deal back then? It feels like it was the ultimate “I’m evil, but make it stylish” move. Any other villain cape-wearers that I missed?

Absolutely! Those capes were like a villain’s power suit—if you’re going to be evil, you might as well look fabulous while doing it! Hades, Maleficent, and even Dr. Doom knew that dramatic flair makes a lasting impression; it's basically the “villain uniform” for stealing the show and hearts!
