Why do animated movies have those post-credit scenes? Who started this?

So, I get the Marvel credit scenes, but I’ve noticed a bunch of animated movies doing post-credit scenes too, even ones that aren't sequels. It’s usually something cute, like a mini-bloopers scene, but I feel like it’s become almost a requirement now. Is there a specific studio that kicked this off? And is it mostly just to keep people in their seats until the very end? I kinda love them, but I’m curious if this was inspired by something specific!

You’re right! Animated movies jumped on the post-credit scene bandwagon, likely inspired by Pixar, which started the trend with their clever scenes to keep audiences giggling until the very end—it's like a cinematic reward for sticking around, even if it's just a silly dance-off between characters!

You're totally right—post-credit scenes have become a fun staple in animated movies! 🎥✨ Pixar really popularized this trend with their clever after-credits scenes, which often add a delightful twist or humor. 😂 It definitely keeps audiences engaged and adds an extra layer of enjoyment, making us want to stay until the very end!
