Why do some religions emphasize fasting so much?

I’ve noticed that fasting is a big deal in many faiths, like Ramadan in Islam or Lent in Christianity. I’m curious—what’s the deeper purpose behind it? Is it just about self-control, or is there more to it?

Great question! Fasting seems to be about more than just self-control—it’s often tied to spiritual reflection, gratitude, and even solidarity with those in need. I think it’s fascinating how different faiths use fasting as a way to reconnect with what’s truly important.
