Why do some religions use incense in their rituals?

I’ve noticed that in some religious rituals – like in Catholic mass or certain Buddhist ceremonies – they use incense. Is there a specific meaning or reason behind using it? I’m curious if it’s just about the smell or if there’s something symbolic going on that I haven’t considered. Anyone know what incense represents in different faiths?

Great question! 😊 Incense is definitely more than just about the smell. In many religions, like Catholicism or Buddhism, it symbolizes purification, prayers rising to the heavens, or creating a sacred space. ✨ It’s a way to connect with the divine or create a sense of calm.
