Wiz, an Israeli cybersecurity startup, has halted discussions with Alphabet about a $23 billion acquisition, which would have been the largest in Google's history. Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport announced in a memo that the company will focus on an initial public offering and growing its business to achieve $1 billion in annual revenue. Despite the enticing offer, Wiz opted to stay independent and build its own future. The decision came after Alphabet’s interest followed Wiz’s $1 billion funding round, which valued the company at $12 billion. This setback for Google, which has been expanding its cloud services, follows a recent failed acquisition attempt of HubSpot and comes after its 2022 purchase of cybersecurity firm Mandiant for $5.4 billion.
