After the victory over Bangladesh, Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan was absolutely delighted and stated that it was a dream come true in the context of the team. This they attributed to their performance in the tournament and the morale boost that came with the victory over New Zealand. Though they thought 135 runs were a little small, Rashid highlighted they focused on bowling well to hold an aggressive Bangladesh team. Reflecting on the semi-final match in Trinidad and Tobago against South Africa, he expected to have a huge celebration at home, which is why he stressed the necessity of keeping the head straight. However, Bangladesh team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto pointed out that they did very well with the ball, but blamed the poor strategy of the batting group especially middle –order batsmen during the much valuable middle overs that cost them the match. He said that his team needed to be better in the batting department and especially from the top-order players despite its bowlers performing well in the tournament.
