Are group chats changing how Filipinos follow basketball?

Do you think group chats have changed the way Filipinos follow basketball?

Before, a lot of basketball talk happened at home, school, work, or the local court. Now, many fans react in real time through Messenger, Viber, Discord, and Facebook groups. Whether it’s the PBA, NBA, UAAP, NCAA, or barangay leagues.. people are sharing hot takes, memes, lineups, referee complaints, and game reactions almost instantly.

I read this post about ByBet basketball and it made me think about how online chats are becoming part of the fan experience, not just a side activity.

Do group chats make Filipino basketball fandom more fun and connected, or do they sometimes make discussions more chaotic and toxic?
