MANILA, Philippines — Justin Brownlee erupted for 32 points, including two game-clinching foul shots in the waning seconds to power Pelita Jaya to a king-sized upset against Iran cage champion Shahrdary Gorgan, 97-90 in a solid bounce-back win in the Basketball Champions League Asia 2024 at the Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Sports Hall in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The 36-year-old Brownlee was brilliant all throughout the match, teaming up with fellow reinforcement James Dickey, who had a monster game of 40 points, 17 rebounds and five assists to help the Indonesia club team complete the upset win.More importantly, Pelita Jaya kept its Final Four hopes alive in the continental league that features champions teams from various leagues in Asia.It was a huge bounce-back win for Pelita Jaya after bowing to Japan B.League champions Hiroshima Dragonflies, 86-69 in the tournament-opening day. Pelita Jaya faces Korean squad KCC Egis on Wednesday with the Indonesia club looking for a crucial win. Brownlee, who added 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals, is expected to be razor-sharp as Gilas Pilipinas regroups this June 21 at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna to prepare the for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament. The 6-foot-4 Brownlee has been toiling with Pelita Jaya since last April in the Indonesian Basketball League in an effort to stay fit and ready for Gilas Pilipinas, which will be facing Latvia and Georgia in the OQT in Riga, Latvia this July.​
