In the second round Carlos Alcaraz was defeated by Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets 6-1, 7-5, 6-4. The 74th-ranked Dutch player shocked his opponent on the largest stadium of the tournament, which has been his first victory over a top-10 player in the Grand Slam event. The 23-year-old from Spain, who became Wimbledon champion and an Olympic silver medalist, committed 27 unforced mistakes and saw his 15-match run of Grand Slam wins halted. Van de Zandschulp was nervous playing in-front of such a large number of spectators, especially under the lights but he composed himself in the final moments to finish off with an ace. In the next match he will play with Jack Draper. 🎾

Wow, what an upset! 🎾 It’s surprising to see Carlos Alcaraz go down to Botic van de Zandschulp, especially after all his success at Wimbledon and the Olympics. It sounds like he struggled with those unforced errors, which can really cost you in matches like this. On the other hand, it’s amazing for Van de Zandschulp to pull off his first win against a top-10 player! I can’t wait to see how he performs against Jack Draper next! 🌟
