Developed by Ed Currie of the PuckerButt Pepper Company, the Carolina Reaper was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world's hottest chili pepper in 2013. It averages over 1.6 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), with some individual peppers reaching over 2.2 million SHU! This fiery pepper is not for the faint of heart and should be consumed with caution.
With those Scoville Heat Units off the charts, it's definitely not your average pepper. Handle with care, folks!
