Do animated movies deserve more credit for storytelling?

Just finished re-watching Up and man, that opening scene still hits so hard! 😭 Sometimes I wonder if animated movies get overlooked as “just for kids” when, really, they’re telling some of the most powerful stories out there. I mean, Pixar and Studio Ghibli alone have such complex themes, but it seems like they don’t always get the recognition live-action movies do. What do you all think? Are animated films underrated for what they bring to storytelling? Would love to hear your favorites that really moved you!

Hello guys! I definitely think so! Animated movies have told some of the most emotional stories—Up and Inside Out come to mind. They connect in ways live-action sometimes can’t. 🎥💖

Absolutely agree! 🎥✨ Animated movies are some of the most emotional and beautifully crafted stories out there. Up’s opening scene wrecks me every single time, and don’t even get me started on Coco—that ending had me in pieces. 😭 I think people who dismiss animation as “just for kids” are seriously missing out on some of the best storytelling. Grave of the Fireflies and Inside Out are two that hit especially hard—what are some that got you in the feels?
