Hold up, most people in France spoke something besides French before the revolution? TIL!
Yeah, before the French Revolution, a lot of folks in France spoke regional languages like Breton, Occitan, and Basque rather than standard French—it was like a linguistic patchwork quilt, not everyone was chatting in the same tongue. Wild, right? ;)
