A female mosquito can lay 100 to 300 eggs at a time and can do so multiple times during her life. In her short lifespan of a few weeks, she can lay up to 3,000 eggs, which explains how mosquito populations can explode rapidly in warm, wet environments.
No wonder they’re such a headache in warm, humid places. 
Their rapid reproduction makes them hard to control!
