Has a book-to-movie adaptation ever been better than the book for you?

I know book purists will fight me, but I actually liked The Devil Wears Prada movie more than the book. Meryl Streep just made Miranda Priestly iconic. Are there any adaptations that, in your opinion, outshined the original book?

I think The Lord of the Rings movies really captured the magic of the books, even improved on some parts. Though, some details were definitely lost.
