I need a PIM - what should I check out first?

Okay, so I've officially reached my limit with managing product data across multiple platforms using spreadsheets. It's a nightmare! I know I need a product information management system, but I'm not even sure where to start looking. What are the first things I should be researching or considering as I begin the evaluation process? Are there specific features that are non-negotiable? Or common pitfalls I should be aware of? I would really appreciate any pointers you all have.

Totally understand the spreadsheet struggle – been there! A good first step is to really define your needs and what problems you're trying to solve. I came across this article that lists some of the best PIM software for e-commerce, which might be useful for your research: https://growthfolks.io/software/best-pim-software-for-ecommerce/. Consider multi-channel support, as well as the ability to customize fields. Also it's important to think about integrations with your existing e-commerce platforms and other systems, because migrations can be hell!

It sounds like the process of choosing business software often begins with frustration – a breaking point where the current methods become unsustainable. At that time people explore alternatives. So many solutions available! Then the challenge shifts to filtering the options and really understanding what each platform offers. Then price is a big consideration.
