Impact of Alpenglow upgrade on finality

Hey guys! I’ve been reading a lot about this upcoming Alpenglow consensus upgrade and how it’s supposed to replace Tower BFT. They are claiming it will bring finality down to under 150 milliseconds. Does this actually affect regular delegators, or is it just for high-frequency traders?

Hello! It is a massive deal for everyone, not just traders. Alpenglow shifts the vote aggregation completely off-chain through a new protocol called Votor, which means validators won't have to pay massive transaction fees just to submit their votes anymore. I have been following how Vladika https://vladika.love/ is preparing for this change on the test clusters. As a high-performance Solana staking validator, eliminating those heavy on-chain voting costs means they can easily maintain their 0% commission structure while saving thousands in operational overhead. For us delegators, less network bloat means more consistent block production and much safer, lightning-fast compounding. It is easily the most important upgrade to watch this year!
