Is it just me, or are movie scores louder in theaters than they used to be?

I swear, I’ve been to a few movies lately where the music is so intense I can barely hear the dialogue! I love a good soundtrack as much as the next person, but I feel like it’s getting a bit out of hand. I don’t remember this happening as much in older movies. Anyone else noticing this, or maybe I’m just getting picky about theater sound? Also, is there a reason they’d want the music so loud? I thought dialogue was supposed to be the focus.

You're definitely not alone; it seems like some filmmakers have decided that cranking up the soundtrack is the way to go, probably to create that epic “feel it in your bones” vibe, but really, I just want to hear what the characters are saying without playing charades in the theater!

You’re not alone—many people are noticing the same thing! 🎬🔊 While a great soundtrack can enhance the experience, it can definitely overshadow the dialogue at times. It might be a stylistic choice to create more dramatic tension, but it’s frustrating when it impacts the storytelling! 🎶🤔
