Is Kruti Dev font still relevant for Hindi typing today?

I’ve been working with some older Hindi typing materials recently and noticed that many of them still rely on Kruti Dev font. It’s interesting because even today, a lot of exam prep content and official documents seem to use it.

The challenge I faced was finding a reliable kruti dev font download and then making sure it actually works properly across my system. Even after installing it, the text doesn’t always display correctly when shared online or opened on another device.

From what I understand, this happens because Kruti Dev is not Unicode-based, so it depends on the font being installed everywhere the content is viewed. That makes things a bit inconvenient, especially when working across different platforms.

Because of this, I’ve started converting Kruti Dev text into Unicode before sharing or publishing it, which seems to fix most compatibility issues.

Just wondering—are people here still actively using Kruti Dev for typing?
Or has everyone moved on to Unicode-based solutions?
