Japanese scientists have uncovered a total of 303 new etchings in the Nazca desert in Peru with the use of artificial intelligence. It took them just six months of field surveys to find them.
With these latest discoveries, there are now over 600 known geoglyphs dating back to 2,000 years ago during the pre-Inca civilization.
The discovery was made by Yamagata University's Nazca Institute and the research section of the technology agency IBM.
On Sept. 23, Yamagata University archeologist Masato Sakai revealed that the utilization of AI in research helped them locate the geoglyphs in a faster and more accurate way.
