Kaspersky Lab, the Russian owned cybersecurity company, will move in its strategy to quit the United States and start discharging its American employees after the US Department of Commerce blocked its products’ sale in the country. This decision will be implemented starting from July 20 and will signal the ceasing of almost two decades of the company’s operations in the United States. The Commerce Department’s information loss ban, which has no precedent, was enacted for reasons of national security because the Russian government might use Kaspersky’s antivirus software to spy on clients; the company has described this as a fabrication. Indeed Kaspersky Lab is a global company that protects its 400 million plus base including many in the US, but it will focus on other strategic markets while protecting its customer base there.
