Lavender or Red Thyme to a sensory garden?

I am attempting to create a garden that will have as much smell as visual appearance. I am certainly putting some creeping red thyme on the walkways due to that herbal whack as you walk over it. On abodelook I discovered an amazing outdoor fountain, which I would like to install in the middle. Would the thyme conflict with the smell of lavender or would they go well together?
