New Zealand Joins Philippines, Australia, Japan, and the US in MMCA for the Very First Time

New Zealand is collaborating with Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and the United States on a multilateral maritime cooperative activity (MMCA) in the West Philippine Sea. This is the first time New Zealand joined since the activity commenced.

According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the activities were intended to improve operational preparedness and teamwork skills. They added that the joint naval drills took place on Sept. 28, inside the Philippines' exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
