Scallions or green onions?

Which term do you use - I always say scallions but the person stocking the produce dept. hesitated and then asked: "green onions?" - I said same diff. Is it a regional thing?

"Scallions" and "green onions" are the same veggie, just called different things based on region. Delicious in dishes!
