Separated Milk

I'm trying not to cry over it, but... I always buy multiples when milk is on sale and freeze it. The last two I've thawed out have been separated (opaque liquid on top, grainy solids on bottom). Although it smells and tastes fine, I can't get past the texture. None of it was out-of-date when I froze it. All I can think is that my freezer may not be cold enough, but I keep a square ice cube in there to alert me if it's gotten warm enough to melt it, and it hasn't. What went wrong, and is there anything I can do save it? Three more half gallons!

That's so frustrating! Milk separating after freezing can happen, especially if it's not frozen quickly or stored properly. Try gently stirring it to mix the layers. If it still tastes okay, you can use it for cooking or baking. 🥛🥣
