With the temperatures already climbing, I'm finally admitting that my factory tint isn't cutting it anymore. The sun just bakes my arm on the driver's side during afternoon drives. I want to get darker film installed but I'm genuinely confused about the legal limits here because I've heard everything from 30% to 50% VLT on the rear windows and nothing on the front sides. A colleague mentioned that some shops will install whatever you want but then you risk failing the annual inspection or getting fined. Has anyone here recently gotten tint that's both legal and actually keeps the car cool? Also curious if the police randomly check tint levels or only during registration.
