Taiwan reports surge in Chinese air force activity

Taiwan's defense ministry said on Thursday morning that over the past 24 hours it had detected 66 Chinese military aircraft operating around the island. The ministry said on Wednesday that it had detected 36 Chinese military aircraft flying to the south and southeast of the island heading to the Western Pacific to carry out drills with the Chinese aircraft carrier the Shandong.​
