When was Adam and Eve driven out from the garden of Eden and why? In Christian theology, it is believed that God expelled them from the garden of Eden because they disobeyed Him not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge, wisdom. But it is not the end of the tale.
Then said the LORD God, Lo, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now lest he stretch out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live forever—therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
(Genesis 3:22-23, NRSVue)
It dawned on God that the man and woman could not enjoy both knowledge and eternal life, so he expelled them to keep them away from the tree of life. Thus the moral of the story is that Adam and Eve only had one opportunity to gain eternal life through being deprived of it when they got expelled from the garden of eden and could no longer partake in the fruits of the tree of life.
