The “Tree of Ténéré” in Niger was once the only tree for over 250 miles before it was knocked down in 1973.

That’s incredible and a little sad! Imagine being the lone tree standing strong for miles and miles—must’ve been quite a landmark. Makes you wonder about all the stories that tree could’ve told if it could talk! Nature never ceases to amaze.

Why was it removed? Do you happen to know the reason? Was the area used for establishing buildings?
