The pistol shrimp is only 2cm in size, but it has been described as being the worldā€™s loudest animal. The bursts its claw which then closes to produce a bubble at the speed of light, the bubble bursts and produces a supersonic bang that is as loud as a Concordeā€™s sonic boom which can go up to 230 decibels, which is louder than the sound of a gunshot. This powerful snap also creates temperatures of about 4,400Ā°C almost as that of the sun thereby helping it to paralyse its prey. šŸŒŠšŸ”ŠšŸ”„

The pistol shrimp is truly a tiny powerhouse! šŸ¦šŸ’„ It's amazing how something so small can create such intense sound and heat, practically a miniature underwater marvel. Nature never ceases to surprise us!

Thatā€™s crazy! I knew they were loud, but didnā€™t realize they were the loudest. I think nature is full of surprises though. šŸŒŠšŸ¦
