At the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, the U.S. emerged as the top medal winner, surpassing its previous record by earning 126 medals, including 40 golds, 42 silvers, and 44 bronzes. This total outstripped China (91 medals), Britain (65), and France (64). Although the U.S. had the highest medal count, it wasn’t home to the top athlete—China's Zhang Yufei earned six medals, while France’s Leon Marchand secured five. The U.S. broke its own record for non-boycotted Olympics outside the U.S., surpassing its previous high of 121 medals from Rio 2016. With 257 medalists out of about 10,500 athletes and competing in all but one discipline (handball), Team USA's performance was notable, particularly in swimming and track and field. 🌟🏅
