Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has announced her retirement from wrestling after being disqualified from the women’s 50kg freestyle final at the Paris Olympics. Phogat, who was set to compete for the gold medal against American Sarah Hildebrandt, fell 100 grams short of the weight limit despite intense efforts, including a week of strict dieting and extended sauna sessions. Phogat shared her disappointment on social media: "Wrestling won and I lost. My dreams are shattered. I don't have any more strength. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024. I will always be indebted to you all. I am sorry." With Phogat out of the final, Cuba's Yusneylys Guzman Lopez took her place, and Hildebrandt won the gold medal with a 3-0 victory. Her dedication and sacrifice in the sport have left a lasting impact, marking the end of a remarkable wrestling journey.
