Mega Charizard Y is obtained when Charizard is battling with the Charizardite Y Mega Stone in his hand. After being activated, it evolves into a more powerful form and has increased special attack and the Drought ability. This change is short-lived (only up to the time of the battle). Mega Charizard Y is effective at causing huge Fire-type damage when in the sun. It is usually employed as a strategic tactic by trainers to overwhelm the opponents within a short period of time and dominate the field with weather effects.
