Why do some religions focus more on rules while others emphasize spirituality?

Some religious traditions have strict guidelines, while others are more about personal connection with the divine. What do you think drives that difference? And which approach resonates more with you?

I think it just depends on how people connect spiritually—some find peace in structure and tradition, while others feel closer to the divine through personal reflection and lived experience. I’ve always leaned more toward the personal side of it. It feels more real to me that way
