Why do tennis players apologize for net cords?

You ever notice how tennis players always raise their hand like, “Sorry, bro,” when the ball clips the net and barely makes it over? Is this actually part of the etiquette, or do they just feel bad for winning in the most annoying way possible?

Yeah, it’s mostly tennis manners. When the ball hits the net and still goes over, it’s kind of a lucky point. Players raise their hand like, “Sorry about that,” because the opponent usually can’t react in time. It’s basically admitting, “I got lucky there,” even if they still take the point.
