Why don’t we see more left-handed quarterbacks in football?

So, random thought while watching some highlights—why are left-handed quarterbacks so rare? Is it just that fewer people are left-handed overall, or is there something about the mechanics of the game that makes it tougher for lefties? Would love to hear from anyone who knows about the training side of things or even has some historical examples of great lefty QBs!

Such an interesting thought! It’s partly because only about 10% of people are left-handed, so the pool is smaller. 🙃 Plus, teams often cater playbooks and strategies for righties, making it trickier for lefty QBs to fit in seamlessly. Steve Young is a legendary lefty QB, though—proof they can shine!

Lefty QBs are rare because defenses aren’t ready for them, and neither are the coaches stuck rewiring their playbooks!
