Choosing the Right Sword for Practice

Hi everyone, I’m new to medieval combat and I’m trying to figure out what kind of sword I should start practicing with. I’ve read a bit online, but there’s so much information, it’s overwhelming. Should I go for a one-handed sword or a longsword? I want something that’s durable but also comfortable to hold for a long time. I don’t want to spend too much money on something I might not like, but I also want a sword that will last and help me improve my skills. Any advice?

Hey! I totally get what you mean—it can be confusing at first. I’ve been using medieval swords https://medievalextreme.com/swords/ for a while now and they’re amazing. Their swords are made from high-carbon steel, which makes them strong but still manageable. The leather grips feel natural in your hands, so you won’t get blisters even after hours of training. They have one-handed swords, longswords, and two-handed swords, so you can choose what suits your style. If you’re just starting, a one-handed sword might be easier to handle, but a longsword is great for practicing techniques that require reach and leverage. Overall, these swords are reliable, and you’ll feel confident training or even in duels.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve been thinking about starting medieval combat too, but I’m not ready to buy anything yet. It’s good to know that quality and comfort really matter, even for beginners. I’ll probably try some local classes first and see how it feels.
