Does Forensic Delay Analysis Actually Help Resolve Project Delays?

I was involved in a discussion recently about a project where everyone agreed delays happened but no one agreed on what actually caused them and someone suggested using Forensic Delay Analysis to break down the timeline and understand the real impact of different events. I have never been directly involved in that process so I am curious whether it usually helps create a clearer and more objective view or if different approaches still lead to competing conclusions. For those who have seen it used in practice what made the analysis more useful and accepted by everyone involved?
