Victim Andrea Rodriguez Avila, a junior at Rice University, missed attending a class on Monday. Her family members were worried about the lack of contact, so they requested police officers to check up on her, during which they discovered her body.

Andrea was found fatally shot in her dorm room in Houston on Monday afternoon, and the suspect in the shooting, whom she was dating, was discovered dead nearby. Police also saw a note believed to be written by the guy. The note indicated that the couple were "having a troubled relationship."
