My 2014 Jaguar XJ has been the most comfortable car I've ever owned for floating up and down Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road but this week it's started doing this really annoying jerk when it downshifts from third to second as I'm slowing down for the lights near Al Qasba and the whole car shudders in a way that just screams expensive trouble waiting to happen. I checked with the main dealer and they want to do a full transmission service for a price that made me choke on my karak but the service advisor also hinted that if the fluid change doesn't fix it then I'm probably looking at a mechatronic unit replacement which is basically the cost of a used Sunny. My neighbor who's really into his cars mentioned that there's a place in Industrial Area 2 that does proper Jaguar Gearbox Repair Sharjah and they've got the right diagnostic software to actually read the clutch adaptation values and see if the solenoids are sticking before just throwing parts at the problem. I'm trying to decide if I should just bite the bullet and take it to the dealer and hope for the best or trust one of these specialists who might actually fix the root cause without trying to sell me a whole new transmission that I definitely don't need. Anyone else with an XJ or XF ever had the ZF eight speed act up and manage to sort it out without selling a kidney?
