Third game of the 2024 Men’s College World Series finals between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Texas A&M ended with a score of 6-5. They sealed the first national championship within the history of the Vols as they became the 60 th team in the season which was very record breaking.
Texas A&M first soundly defeated the Vols in the MCWS finals by a 9-5 score, the latter shocked the former with a come from ahead by employing late sparking to overcome the Aggies in the second match of the set 4-1, and third match saw the Aggies being ahead of the Vols early on. Dylan Dreiling whose performance was likely driven by an RBI and a home run in the Game 3 was given the Most Outstanding Player of 2024 MCWS. Dreiling also tasted fame as the first player to have hit a home run in all the three games of the MCWS finals.
The supposed match was 6-1 Vols at the bottom of the fifth with Hunter Ensley safely moving into the home plate to dodge the tag from Jackson Appel when a large gap was narrowed by the Aggies’ four-run seventh and eighth innings. In more detail, Tennessee closer Aaron Combs emerged adding the frosting to his crow, striking out Ted Burton to clinch for Tennessee.
