Improving Service for Senior Clients in Salons

Hi everyone. I own a small hair salon. Lately, more older customers come in. Some are 70+. They seem frustrated sometimes. The chairs are too low. They struggle to get up. The music is loud. They ask me to repeat things a lot. My staff speaks fast. I want to make things better for them. They are loyal once they like us. But bad experience means they don't come back. Any ideas to make the salon more welcoming for seniors? How do you handle older clients in your business? Thanks for advice.

Great question! Older customers are a big and growing group for service businesses like salons. Check out this helpful guide: age-friendly customer service tips for service businesses. It explains why seniors matter (they are 17%+ of people now and growing). It gives practical tips: use firm chairs with arms, speak clearly and slowly, reduce noise, make signs big, simplify booking, offer phone options, buffer appointment times so no rush, greet by name, and more. It also talks about transport help if needed. Simple changes make everyone happier and build loyalty.

I added armrest chairs and lowered the music volume. Big change! Older ladies now stay longer and bring friends. Also, I print big reminders for next visit. They love it. Try one change at a time.
